Repetition rate: Percentage of students enrolled in a school year who are repeating the same grade level as the previous year.

*Glossary Enrollment: The enrollment rate shows the participation of the school-age population (between 5 and 16 years old) in the education system.

Coverage may be:

Gross: The ratio of the number of students enrolled in a level of education to the population of theoretical age to study at that level.

Net: The ratio of the number of students enrolled in a level of education of the theoretical age to study at that level and the total population of the same age.

School-age population (theoretical): The total projected population that is of the theoretical age range to study in a level of education. In the case of Colombia, the following theoretical age ranges were defined for each level:

-Transition = 5 years old

-Primary = 6 to 10 years old

-Middle School = 11 to 14 years old

-High School = 15 to 16 years old

Failure rate: Proportion of enrolled students who did NOT meet the academic requirements to be promoted from their grade and therefore, cannot move on to the next level.

Pass rate: Proportion of enrolled students who did NOT meet the academic requirements to be promoted from their grade and therefore, cannot be promoted to the next grade.

Higher education

*Glossary

Enrollment in first year: Proportion of individuals (natural persons) who formalize their enrollment in the first year (or first semester) of the academic program at the Institution of Higher Education to which they were admitted.

Program methodology:

Distance (traditional): Teaching and learning methodology that overcomes limitations of time and space, as well as synchrony between professor and students. It contains virtual and traditional remote education (delivery of physical material to the student).

E-learning (virtual): Teaching and learning methodology based on the use of the Internet. Information and material is exchanged via platforms or e-mail, such as videos with explanations. It takes place asynchronously.

Total enrollment: Students from all cohorts (groups in all semesters) in all academic programs in higher education.
